that was the night i died.”

The very beginning of the word during the movie that still remain in my head. A very tragic story about an orphan surviving their day during the end of World War II in Japan. And trust me, this story great!!

I will started my complete review of this 11 greatest animation collection starting with this one. I was wondering to start with the Totoro, but this movie really did caught my eye so i write about it first! So here is it.

Grave of the Fireflies,

• Grave of the fireflies is the 1998 animated film written and directed by Isoa Takahata. It is an adaptation of the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Akiyuki Nosaka, intended as a personal apology to the author’s own sister.

• Taking place toward the end of World War II in Japan, Grave of the Fireflies is the tale of the relationship between two orphaned children, preteen Seita (清太, the top pic) and his young sister Setsuko (節子, right picture). The children lose their mother in the firebombing of Kobe, and their father in service to the Imperial Japanese Navy, and as a result are forced to try to survive amidst widespread famine and the callous indifference of their countrymen, some of whom are their own extended family members.

• The title, Grave of the fireflies symbolize many things in this film, but the main important script that tighten the symbol is the one the setsuko said “Why do fireflies die so soon?”, so the title might serve to heighten the symbolic and thematic significance of the incident. Because Seita and Setsuko catch fireflies and use them to illuminate the bomb shelter in which they live.

• Due to the graphic and truly emotional depiction of the negative consequences of war on society and the individuals therein, some critics have viewed Grave of the Fireflies as an anti-war film.  Even some critics (most notably Roger Ebert) consider it to be one of the most powerful anti-war movies ever made

• Also i love to see the bonding that involve here, between these two siblings. The writer manage to show the real feel and deliver it in a very delightful and meaningful ways.

And as for me, this movie really good, simple animation but with a great value store for me! Glad that i found this one and watch it. really enjoying this one!
